Midrash Rabba – the Copy of Rabbi Nechemya Alter of Gur

Thick volume.
Rabbi Nechemya Alter (1875-1942, perished in the Holocaust), the son of the Rebbe of Gur author of 'Sefat Emet', the brother of the Rebbe author of 'Imrei Emet', the father-in-law of the Rebbe author of 'Lev Simcha' and son-in-law of Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Morgenstern of Lomaz-Kock.
He was known as a Torah and kabbala genius. After World War I, he left the city of Gur and settled in Otwock. In 1925, he immigrated to the Land of Israel and lived in Safed, moving to Jerusalem in 1927 to serve as the head of the 'Sefat Emet' Yeshiva.
In 1931, he returned to Poland and was a member of the "Rabbis Committee" of Lodz. In 1941, he was smuggled out of the Lodz Ghetto to the Warsaw Ghetto. He perished in the Holocaust as did most of his descendants, except for his eldest daughter the Rebbetzen Yutah Henya [the mother of the present Rebbe of Gur].
Remnants of his Torah Novellae were printed in the book "Chidushei Rabbi Nechemya" (Jerusalem, 1983).

הגאון הקדוש רבי נחמיה אלטר (תרל"ה- תש"ב, נספה בשואה), בנו של האדמו"ר מגור בעל "שפת אמת", ואחיו של האדמו"ר בעל "אמרי אמת". חמיו של האדמו"ר בעל "לב שמחה". חתנו של רבי צבי הירש מורגנשטרן מלומאז- מקוצק. נודע כגאון מופלג בנגלה ובנסתר. לאחר מלחמת העולם הראשונה עזב את העיר גור והתיישב באוטווצק. בשנת תרפ"ה עלה ארצה והתיישב בצפת. בשנת תרפ"ז עבר לירושלים וכיהן כראש ישיבת "שפת אמת". בשנת תרצ"א שב לפולין וכיהן כחבר "ועד הרבנים" בלודז'. הוברח בשנת תש"א מגיטו לודז' לגיטו וורשה. נספה בשואה הנוראה. רוב צאצאיו נספו בשואה, מלבד בתו הבכירה הרבנית יוטא הניא [אמו של כ"ק האדמו"ר מגור שליט"א]. שרידים מדברי תורתו נדפסו בספר "חידושי רבי נחמיה" (ירושלים, תשמ"ג).

Document Signed by the Rebbe of Gur, Author of "Lev Simcha"
The Rebbe, Rabbi Simcha Bonem Alter of Gur was born in 1898. After the death of his brother, the "Beit Yisrael", he replaced him as the Rebbe of Gur, leading the Gur Hassidim until his death in 1992.

האדמו"ר רבי שמחה בונים אלתר מגור נולד בשנת תרנ"ח. לאחר פטירת אחיו הבית ישראל ישב על כס האדמורו"ת והנהיג את עדת חסידות גור, עד פטירתו בשנת תשנ"ב.

Agudat Yisrael during the Establishment of the State, the War of Independence and the First Years of the State
Collection of printed items that were printed by various branches of Agudat Yisrael, in Israel and abroad, during the time before the establishment of the State and its first years. Some of them refer to the underground organizations, the IDF and the new State. Rare, selected items.
Al Ta'alu Ba'Choma. Jerusalem, 1947. Content of articles: "Against Terror", that is, against Haredi youth joining the underground organizations. Fascinating historical booklet. Rare!
Igeret La'Chayal (Missive to the soldier). Issue 12. Printed by the federation of the youth of Agudat Yisrael. Main article: "The prisoners of the Sabbath in the Israeli army": "There are more and more cases of our members and other religious soldiers suffering in military prisons for their refusal to desecrate our holy Sabbath…" 4 pp. On the back page, greetings and regards from the front to the rear and vice versa. For example: "To Pinchas Golomb of the pioneering regiment, somewhere, I will visit you soon, Gabriel".
Yedi'ot Merkaz Agudat Yisrael Ba'Aretz. Issue no. 2. Shevat 1948. Stencil. The main article is about: "The difficult battle against the enemy…". The issue also protests against the government that confiscates weapons that were meant to protect the people and possessions of the Yishuv. There are also additional interesting calls. For example: the Jewish nation will not enable the realizing of the malicious intent of banishing it from the remnants of its holy of holies - the Western Wall. There is a news item about the murder of Avraham Hoisman and additional interesring news items. Extremely rare.

אוסף פריטי דפוס שנדפסו על ידי סניפים שונים של תנועת אגודת ישראל, בארץ ובחו"ל, ערב הקמת המדינה, ובימיה הראשונים של המדינה. חלקם נוגעים למחתרות, לצבא הגנה לישראל בראשית דרכו, למדינה החדשה, ועוד. פריטים נדירים ומובחרים.
א. אל תעלו בחומה. ירושלים, תש"ז. תוכן המאמרים: נגד הטרור", כלומר נגד הצטרפות הנוער החרדי למחתרות... חוברת היסטורית ומרתקת, כאובה ונדירה!
ב. אגרת לחייל. גיליון 12. נדפס ע"י הסתדרות צעירי אגו"י, הנוער האגודתי. כתבה ראשית: "אסירי השבת בצבא ישראל": "הולכים ומתרבים המקרים בהם חברינו וגם חיילים אחרים שומרי תורה מתענים בבתי כלא צבאיים על סרובם לחלל את שבת קדשנו...". 4 עמ'. בעמוד האחורי איחולים וד"שים, מהחזית לעורף, ומהעורף לחזית. למשל: "לפנחס גולומב בגדודי הפורצים, אי שם, אבקר אותך בקרוב, גבריאל".
ג. ידיעות מרכז אגו"י בארץ. גיליון מס' 2. שבט תש"ח. הדפסת סטנסיל. הכתבה הראשית פותחת: המבחן החמור שהישוב נתון בו כעת, המערכה הקשה עם האויב...". מובעת מחאה נגד השלטונות המחרימים את נשק המגן המיועד לשמירת הנפש והרכוש של הישוב. וכן יש קריאות נוספות מעניינות. בין היתר: עם היהודי לא יתן לבצע את הכוונה הזידונית לנשל אותו מסביבת שריד קדשי הקדשים שלו - הכותל המערבי". כתבה אחרת היא "בשטח הגיוס והביטחון"; "הצלת חיי אסירנו"; הצלת יהודי העיר העתיקה שבמצור. ידיעה על הרצחו של אברהם הויזמן הי"ד, ועוד ידיעות מיוחדות. נדיר מאוד.

Siddur Rabbi Asher Margaliyot, the Disciple of the Ba'al Shem Tov – Sephard Version – Lvov, 1787 – First Edition – Several Lacking Copies
Prayers for all year round with Kavanat Ha'Ari. Two sections in one volume: for the days of the week and for Sabbath. "Siddur Rabbi Asher" with completions and corrections edited by the Kabbalist Rabbi Asher Margaliyot of Brody and Mezhbizh, a disciple of the Ba'al Shem Tov. Lvov, 1787. Printed by Rabbi Shlomo Yarish Rappoport (Ginzei Yisrael 219). Stefansky Hassidut no. 414).
Rabbi Asher Margaliyot was a member of the group of disciples of Rabbi Yisrael Ba'al Shem Tov and one of the scholars of the well-known Kloiz of Brody. The Siddur was printed in Lvov in 1787 by Rabbi Shlomo Yarish, whose workers at the printing house were reputedly holy men of the 36 hidden righteous people of the generation. The books printed by the printing house are considered a Segulah. The holy book "Noam Elimelech" was printed in the same year by the printing house.
The Siddur was commonly called in the name of its editor, "Siddur Rabbi Asher", and it constitutes a reliable source of the kabbalah of the disciples of the Ba'al Shem Tov and of other kabbalists of the generation. The group of disciples of the Ba'al Shem Tov used this Siddur.
A. Most of the second section which includes the Sabbath prayers. Ends on the last leaf on which the printers' colophon was printed.
B. Part of the second section.
C. Four copies each one containing most of the first section.
D. A copy that contains most of the three sections of the Siddur. Inscription: "Rabbi Menachem Menchin Halperin" (the Jerusalemite kabbalist).
E. Two copies each one of them containing most of the third sections (the Jewish holidays).
And additional leaves of the first section (prayers for the days of the week) and the third section (prayers for the Jewish holidays) from at least two copies.
Condition: Fair-Bad. Significant moth signs and additional flaws. Some of the leaves are nice and relatively complete.

רקע על הסידור החשוב:
סדר תפילה מכל השנה, עם כוונת האר"י. שני חלקים בכרך אחד: לחול ולשבת. "סידור רבי אשר" - עם השלמות ותיקונים בעריכת המקובל רבי אשר מרגליות מבראד ומעזיבוז, תלמיד הבעש"ט. לבוב, תקמ"ח (1787). דפוס רבי שלמה יארוש ראפופורט (גנזי ישראל 219). סטפנסקי חסידות מס' 414.
רבי אשר מרגליות זצ"ל היה מבני החבריא קדישא דאור שבעת הימים רבנו ישראל בעל שם טוב, ומגדולי חכמי הקלויז המפורסם בבראד. הסידור נדפס בלבוב בשנת תקמ"ח, בדפוסו של רבי שלמה יארוש. העובדים באותו בית דפוס היו קדושי עליון, מל"ו הצדיקים הנסתרים שבאותו הדור. הספרים שנדפסו בדפוס זה נחשבים כסגולה. בבית דפוס זה נדפסה באותה שנה המהדורה הראשונה של הספר הקדוש "נועם אלימלך".
הדפסת הסידור באותה התקופה הסוערת של ימי צמיחת החסידות, שינו החסידים את נוסח התפלה לנוסח האריז"ל. כך למשל הוסיפו לפני תפילת ערבית אחרי קבלת שבת קטע מספר הזוהר פרשת תרומה (קלה, א) המתחיל "כגוונא". קטע זה, שתוכנו מעלת שבת בעת "ברכו", ונאמר מאז ועד היום כמעט בכל הקהילות החסידיות כהקדמה ל"ברכו", מופיע בסידור שלפנינו. כשבע שנים לפני כן, בשנת תקמ"א, נדפס בזולקווה סידור עם כוונת האריז"ל, בעידודם של המקובלים מהקלויז בבראד, ונודע כ"סידור חכמי הקלויז".
סידור זה היה הסידור הראשון עם כוונות הקבלה שנדפס באותו מחוז, בעקבות התפשטות תורת הקבלה באזור על ידי חכמי בראד ותלמידי הבעש"ט. רבי אשר מרגליות התעמק בסידור ובמקורותיו: כתבי האר"י, ספר הייחודים, ספר פרי עץ חיים, כתב יד סידור החסיד המקובל מוה"ר שבתי מראשקוב ועוד. בתוך כך טרח לנקותו משגיאות ולהעמידו על מכונו. בהקדמתו בראש הסידור כותב רבי אשר על סידור חכמי הקלויז ש"אי אפשר שיהיה בפעם הראשונה בשלמות".
הוא מסביר שמתיר לעצמו לתקן, משום ש"ראיתי שמקום הניחו לי לתקן ברצון חכמים, בפרט כי היה לי אילן גדול לסמוך עליו מורנו ורבנו הרב המאור הגדול... המקובל האלוקי מוהר"ר חיים צאנזר ז"ל מבראד אשר גדולה שימושה יותר מלימודה ויצקתי מים על ידו בפרט בלימוד החכמה הנוראה האמיתית הזאת". ועוד, מפני שרבו הנ"ל הגיה את הסידור הזה, "לכן יש לאל ידי להגיהו ולתקנו".
סידור זה נקרא בפי כול על שם עורכו, "סידור רבי אשר", והוא מהווה מקור נאמן לתורת הקבלה של תלמידי הבעש"ט ומקובלי אותו הדור. בני החבריא קדישא של הבעש"ט השתמשו בסידור זה. סידור חשוב ונדיר באופן יוצא מן הכלל!
א. רובו של החלק השני הכולל תפילות לשבת. מסתיים בדף האחרון, בו נדפס קולופון של המדפיסים.
ב. חלק מהחלק השני.
ג. ארבעה עותקים, הכוללים (כל אחד מהם) את רובו של חלק ראשון.

ד. שני עותקים, כל אחד מהם כולל את רובו של החלק השלישי (המועדים)
וכן קטעי קונטרסים, ודפים בודדים, מתוך החלק הראשון (תפילות לחול) והחלק השלישי (תפילות למועדים). משני עותקים לפחות.
גיל הפריט: 231 שנים.
מצב בינוני-גרוע. סימני עש משמעותיים, ופגמים נוספים. חלק מהדפים יפים ושלמים יחסית.

Chamisha Cgumshei Torah with the Onkelos translation and Rashi commentary. With the Haftaroth and five scrolls. Special edition, which contains all five Chumashim with the Haftaroth in one volume.
"And we have added a new thing which has never appeared in these Chumashim: the determination of the months and the times of the new moon for seven years, to assist our brothers abroad". The table of the new moon refers to the years 1826-1832.

Letter handwritten and Signed by the Rebbe of Slonim Rabbi Mordechai Chaim Kastelnitz
The Rebbe Rabbi Mordechai Chaim Kastelnitz (1868-1954) immigrated to the land of Israel in 1875 and settled in Tiberius, where he studied with Rabbi David of Lubin and considred himself his leading disciple. After his marriage, he moved to Safed where he established the "Eshel Avraham" Yeshiva. At a young age he was appointed Dayan in Tiberius and was known by the title "Rabbi Motel Dayan".
In 1937, he moved to Jerusalem and in 1950, became the leader of the Slonim Hassidism, although he insisted not to be called "Admor".
Among his disciples, the Rebbe Rabbi Avraham Weinberg, the 'Birkat Avraham' of Slonim.
Enclosed is the envelope with his handwriting (flawed).
Condition: Fair. Tears. Part of the letter is detached. The corner is missing with omission of several words.
מכתב בכתב ידו ובחתימתו של האדמו"ר מסלונים הרה"ק רבי מרדכי חיים קסטלניץ
האדמו"ר רבי מרדכי חיים קסטלניץ מסלונים (תרכ"ח-תשי"ד) עלה ארצה בשנת תרל"ה והתישב בטבריה בה קיבל תורה וחסידות מרבי דוד מלובין והחשיב את עצמו כתלמידו המובהק, לאחר נשואיו עבר לצפת שם ייסד את ישיבת "אשל אברהם". בגיל צעיר נתמנה כדיין בטבריה ועל תפקידו זה נתפרסם בשם רבי מוטל דיין.
בשנת תרצ"ז בגיל זקנה עבר לירושלים, והיה מנהיג חסידות סלונים, החל משנת תש"י, אולם הקפיד שלא יכנוהו 'אדמו"ר'.
מתלמידיו: האדמו"ר רבי אברהם וינברג ה"ברכת אברהם" מסלונים.
מצורפת המעטפה עם כתב ידו (פגומה).
