With 1971 note concerning the item In "New Zealand First Day & Early Use Covers & Stamps" by Thackery, it is stated that only a total of 3 FDCs for the 1898 Pictorials are known. This is a 4th. The item has always been in the family of the addressee being the great grandfather of the vendor.
