Foreign offices in Buenos Aires, WRECK MAIL and French - British mixed postage: Entire letter sent collect from Buenos Aires to Bordeaux (France). With octogonal datestamp "CONF. ARGENTINE - SAINTONGE 12/FEB/1865", single rate "8" handstamp (tenth of franc) , the letter was carried on this ship to Rio de Janeiro, then transfered to steamer BEARN, which departed on 25/FE and 2 days later SANK south of BAHIA, passengers and mail were rescued....

It was carried via steamer Arno to Rio de Janeiro and then transferred to steamer SEINE, which had some mechanical problems near Bahia, and had to remain there for 4 days. Napoleon III of 1863/70, cancelled with blue “anchor” cancel, and taxed on arrival “2 Pesetas”. On reverse it bears a violet arrival handstamp of Lisbon "P. TRANSATLANTICO 26/10", transit of Badajoz, and Málaga arrival for 29/OC/71, excellent quality!

The double rate was paid with 2 stamps of 80c. Napoleon III and one of 40c. Republic (1870/1 issue), tied by “anchor” cancels. On arrival it received the "1 BRESIL 1 BORDEAUX 29 OCT. 71" marking in red, and on reverse datestamp of Bordeaux, very fine quality, very interesting!
