1784 (March 2): Entire lettersheet from Fredericktown / Missouri to Hohenklingen in Württemberg Germany. Early emigrant letter written in German back home: "....dass ich soll wieder eine Antwort zuschicken, wir sind alle noch bey guter Gesundheit..." (... that I should send a reply again, we are all still in good health....). Private 18th century trans-atlantic letters are rare.

The total amount due is payable in Swiss Francs (CHF). Foreign currencies will be accepted to the extent of the amounts credited by a principal Swiss bank; any costs arising from exchange rate differences will be borne by the bidder. 1882: Garfield 5 c. brown, a used example on Wells Fargo imprinted 15 c. orange postal stationery envelope sent registered from San Francisco to Potsdam, Prussia cancelled by segmented cork handstamps in black with four line San Francisco despatch in blue (12 April, 1882). Reverse with New York transit (April 21) and New York transit registration label and Potsdam arrival (May 4). Some overall aging but a very rare usage.

Clements", mailed to Kershaw District, South Carolina with "FREE" handstamp and "RICHMOND / VA" despatch cds (31 March, 1863) in black. Small opening fault and top flap missing but rare.

1851-52: Missionaries, Typeset 5 c. blue on pelure greyish paper, type I with 'P' located mid-way under 'H', a used adhesive with large even margins all round, heavily restored as can be seen in the majority of these delicate adhesives, cancelled by indistinct part strike of "HONOLULU / HAWAIIAN ISLANDS" datestamp in red, rarely seen on the stamp itself. 1897/1970: Accumulation of approximately 100 mainly commercial covers and postcards, beginning with a letter from the Spanish period to Switzerland. The US period is comparatively strong, with approximately thirty letters and cards, three with overprinted President Series to 3 c. From the 1930's there is a registered correspondence from the Swiss consulate to the Police department in Bern. Varied lot from this interesting area.
