The John V. Farwell Company was once the largest Dry goods wholesalers in the country. Business case studies sight Farwell's refusal to enter the retail market, as their competitors the Field Co. as the reason for their downfall, APS Cert (2006) (Scott 482).

35 united states , washington-franklin issues: a specialized collection 1918 letter: 1917, 3¢ light violet, type I, tied by SAINT LOUIS MAY 4 1918 duplex on envelope bearing violet MISSENT TO JOHNSTON BRANCH JACKSONVILLE FLA thence continuing on to NASSAU BAHAMAS, receiver on reverse where we assume the Bahama's Special Delivery and cancellation were applied. This is very similar to the earlier envelopes from Canada that were pre-applied with the Bahamas Special Delivery, this the scarcer Type I. This supposedly was for use by the Canadian Expeditionary Force, but the routing remains a mystery to us (Scott 501).

An unidentified c.d.s. resides also on reverse. Very interesting (Scott 531).

"A crank letter to the President" mailed from Cincinatti on DEC 14 1921, this complete Washington Franklin set of values 1¢ to $1.00 plus C2 and C3 plus for good measure a 75¢ Parcel Post and 10¢ Special Delivery totallng almost $4.00, is signed "From God Almighty, who comes to judge the living and the dead, woe be unto him who heeds not my voice and does not as I will. My will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven." Obviously another satisfied voter. Mounted open on card. A most impressive presentation.
