INDIA 1931 (Aug 10) Croydon to Shanghai flight by the American aviators Charles and Gladys Day, cover flown from Calcutta to Rangoon bearing a photographic vignette of Mrs Day tied by the "American Flyers" cachet, a ½a stamp cancelled at Park Street, Calcutta and a 1a stamp at Rangoon (Sep 20), with handstamped date "3 SEP 1931", the day the couple actually left Calcutta. The flight was further delayed by a forced landing in the jungle near Sandoway. A fine and scarce cover, just 14 covers flown.  £250-300
