Jordanian postal boycott of Israel: 1 AUG 1949 a/m comm cv ex NYC to J'LEM "Palestine" - here, Israel intended but unclear & routed via Jordan, b/s 3 AU 49 AMMAN transit & next day J'LEM arr. where opened roughly & damaged during censor inspection + marked "pas de communication" using K-Type-I IM h/s (EKD of use) and returned to sender undelivered; in LONDON transit 29 AU 49 affixed w/PO seal regretting damage to cv & marked by US PO (NY) "to hand in this condition" (manuscript) w/officers' signature. Rare: only known example of 'postkrieg' postal sealed mail returned from Jordan.
