1911: King George V Era -- Admiral Issues. ECKERLIN PLATE 'ESSAYS' block of nine of the 3 cents value in DARK BLUE showing on reverse nine essays in red for a german stamp "12 Pfg Deutschland" picturing Friedrich der Grosse of Prussia (1712-1786). Printed in 1928 on stiff card with the Admiral design in a reversed and enlarged format (to prevent accusations of forgery) for presentation to the American Bank Note Co. in hopes of selling them Dr. Eckerlin's rotary press process for intaglio printing (developed by Herbst & Illig in Germany).
POSSIBLY UNIQUE COMBINATION OF AN CANADIAN ESSAY WITH A GERMAN ESSAY. Very fine condition. The Brigham Canada collection didn´t include such an item.
