1869, GB QV 3d tied "BERWICK AU 25 69" to cover (incomplete) to Madras/India with wrapper-like band "Recovered from the wreck of the Carnatic." One stamp fallen off and only a large fragment of the verse, but full contents, as sealed by the officials in 1869. - Bound for Bombay, the P&O Carnatic 12 Sept. 1869, struck a reef near Shaker Island in the Red Sea and sunk the next day.

1933 May 9. CASABLANCA TO BELGIUM. On a flight from Casablanca to Toulouse, the Latéco re 28 took off from the airfield at Barcelona for Perpignan. Climbing through thick clouds the plane struck a house in the village of Villadrau (1700m) near Villa Grande. The crew and 3 passengers were killed. A violet or black cachet was applied, and badly burned mail was forwarded in service covers.
