Macedonian Kingdom. Philip II. Silver Tetradrachm (13.72 g), 359-336 BC. Amphipolis, lifetime issue, ca. 355-349/8 BC. Laureate head of Zeus right. Reverse: ?I?I?-?OY, king on horseback left, wearing kausia and extending arm; below, trident head left. Cf. Le Rider 69-95 (die not listed); SNG ANS 468. Test punch hidden within ear. Another test punch below horse's belly. Pleasing style and nicely toned. NGC grade Choice Very Fine; Strike: 5/5; Surface: 2/5.
