Attica, Athens. Silver Tetradrachm (17.1 g), ca. 465/2-454 BC. Transitional Issue. Helmeted head of Athena right. Reverse AΘE, owl standing right, head facing, three distinct taial feathers; olive-spray with berry and crescent above. Starr Group V.A, 158-72 (uncertain dies); Seltman group N; Svoronos pl. 10, 1-15; SNG Copenhagen -. Issued around the same time as the famous dekadrachm issues, note the straight hair on the forehead, the dekadrachms are wavy. Fantastic dekadrachm style. Extremely Fine.
