Südafrika: 1899 (12 Oct) BOER WAR: Johannesburg 'Officially closed' "Ambtshalve Gesloten" label used
1899 (12 Oct) BOER WAR: Johannesburg 'Officially closed' "Ambtshalve Gesloten" label used as censor seal on cover from Weymouth, England to Johannesburg and redirected to Capetown, insufficiently franked by 1d. violet tied by Weymouth datestamp, with hexagonal "T/15" and circled "3D" to pay handstamps, crossed out later, arriving Johannesburg on October 12th, 1899, the day the 2nd Boer War fighting started, franked with an 1d. adhesive tied by Johannesburg '16 Oct 99' cds, and redirected to Capetown, with '30 Oct 99' arrival datestamps on the reverse. The scarce provisional censor seal (Type 1) partially damaged otherwise a fine cover, and scarce as thus as only five incoming covers known with this censor seal, and this one is redirected to now enemy territory Capetown probably via Mozambique (note the two weeks of Johannesburg-Capetown transit).
