1862 Unpaid EL mailed from Smyrna (French P.O.) to Athens. Handwritten "50" franked on arrival with 10l. orange with intense yellowish wash and 40l. mauve on blue (30l. to pay the ship and 20l. Greek internal). 40 lepta stamp with plate flaw fishook variety (pos.67). A very nice entire. (Hellas 12IIa+14IIa40F3).

1862 EL posted from "ΚΩΝΣΤΑΝΤΙΝΟΥΠΟΛΙΣ*ΤΟΥΡΚΙΑ*27 ΙΟΥΛΙΟΥ 1862" with manuscript postage rate "50" (lepta) to be paid from the receiver, via "ΠΕΙΡΑΙΕΥΣ (2)*30 ΙΟΥΛ. 62" and "ΑΘΗΝΑΙ (1)*30 ΙΟΥΛ. 62", arr. "ΣΚΟΠΕΛΟΣ (85)*5 ΑΥΓ. 62". On arrival taxed with 10l. orange with yellowish wash and Var. "inverted 1" (pos.54, Kound.17.1) + 40l. mauve on blue and cancelled with dot. "85". VF. RRR. Large part of EL from Syros, franked with 20l. sky-blue (control numbers identical to fine provisionals but quite different face) cancelled dotted "67", handwritten "20" and boxed "ΠΛΗΡ./ΑΝΕΠΑΡΚΗΣ" taxed on arrival with 20l. deep blue canc. dotted "18". On reverse Athens transit cancellation and "ΤΡΙΠΟΛΙΣ*16.ΜΑΙΟΣ.62" on arrival. Very rare use of Hellas 19A (with pos.25 plate flaw) on letter. (Hellas 19A+13Id).
