Schwanke Briefmarkenauktionen GmbH Auction #344 from

Welcome to Schwanke 344th auction, offering a wide variety of items with something for every serious collector. Our main catalog offers as usual high-class single items from all philatelic areas from, German States to overseas countries. In total there more than 2300 single items and approximately 1500 collections and bulk lots on offer.
Auction highlights include -

NORWAY - about 40 lots of the classic period should be mentioned. Starting with a couple of fine copies of the No. 1 (including the "Dobbelfoot" variety fine used € 750). Others are beautiful covers of the 2nd to the 4th issue many of them with nice combination frankings. Pictured below is a "3 SKILL" stamp of the third issue as part of a "tricolore" to France (€ 2000).
SOVIET UNION - three unissued stamps on one cover, sent registered - this item of the late 1950ies is one of the highlights of this area. Whenever one of these scarce stamps turns up at auction prices are mostly beyond "god and evil", e.g. mostly above catalogue valuations. All three together on a philatelic item look like a "Fata Morgana" (€ 7000)
CHINA - the still most popular area is well represented with good single items from „Large Dragons“ to PRC sets and souvenir sheets. But did you know... that Belgium had planned to issue stamps for their diplomatic corps in Pekin? Some stamps of the 1908 issue were prepared as „specimens“ bearing the overprint CHINE and the face value in Chinese currency „4 cents“. According to a census published by the COB there are only half a dozen of such specimens in existence the one we are offering is considered to be one of the best preserved ones in existence. It is offered together with a post card written by a member of „Légation Belge en Pekin...“ (€ 4500).
POLAND – scarce 5 Kr Postage due (€ 1500) or ROMANIA 108 Parale with gorgeous margins and crisp red JASSY cancellation (€ 3000)
SWITZERLAND – the scarce Air Mail 10 on 15 Rappen overprint inverted item, MNH with new certificate (€ 4000)
IRAN – BUSHIRE Occupation issues, a couple of fine items all expertised by the well known Max Thier of Berlin, among those the scarce 2 Ch. (€ 2700) and the 5 Ch. (€ 2200)
GERMANY, our „home turf“, comes with approximately 900+ single lots spanning the whole area from GERMAN STATES to modern issues of The Federal Republic.
A nice selection of Coins and Postcards are alos offered.

The second auction day is reserved to lots and collections, bulk lots and whole estates as well as coins, postal pictorial cards etc. and in total these are 1500+ lots.
