1891, 5 Centimes stat. card with additional franking of a horizontal pair 5 C. Leopold II sent from MATADI to Nieuport, Belgium. Stamps and card are tied by scarce blue MATADI ETAT INDEPENDANT DU CONGO cancellation. "Via Lisbonne handwritten on the card. This card was glued perhaps into an album with corresponding traces on back.

Envelope addressed to Stanley Pool, Boma, Central Africa bearing SG 201, 21/2d purple/blue (perf faults) tied by Leith date stamp 'Sp 29 96' routed via Liverpool 'Sp 30' with Lisboa transit '4/10', Leopoldville '2nd Nov' and Boma arrival 'Nov 41th' in blue on reverse and forwarded (returned) to Leith with Boma transit '11th Dec' and Lisbon '3rd Jan 97' with Edinhurgh 'Jan 28' on reverse. Mail into the Belgian Congo is very scarce.

Scarcer item of censored mail from the Occupation of German East Africa.

A RARE SOUVENIR SHEET (300 were overprinted in 1949, with a small number showing ovpt. inverted of which only very few are known cancelled or on cover.
